Success Story of Haseena

Haseena w/o Isuba lives with her family in Ashraya colony, Basavakalyana Taluka.. They have 5 Children – 3 daughters and 2 sons. Sons got married and live separately with their own families. Haseena’s family was struggling from financial crisis as the entire family expenses had to be supported by the sole income of Mr. Isub who is an auto driver.

During her house visit, Animator of Women Empowerment Programme of ORBIT met Hasina and listened to her problems. The animator gave the information about (S.H.G.) through which women are supported socio-economic and politically. Hasina was interested and she joined the SHG in her village and started savings every week and to attend the meetings and trainings. Later she took loan from the Sangha and started a small kirana (provision) shop.

Though there were many customers in the outset, gradually she began losing the customers because of lack of commodities in the shop which they needed. Haseena was discouraged by this. As she shared her struggle in the sangha, other members encouraged her not to lose heart. Meanwhile their SHG attended an EDP training arranged by ORBIT. This enabled them eligible for loan from Samrudhi Yojana to improve their existing enterprises. Haseena too got loan of Rs. 25,000/- and she developed her store bringing all things the local customers needed.

It increased her income steadily. She earns Rs. 500 to 600 per day. It has become a great support to the family income. Their financial crisis is getting solved. Two daughters got married with the savings from the shop. The youngest daughter is continuing her education. One of her sons, inspired by the success of his mother’s enterprise, began his own self-employment. Haseena begum who thought she was unable to find any work or income is a successful entrepreneur today. Her husband also supports her.

The EDP training and financial support through Samrudhi yojana has brought back the smile on Haseena’s face and in her family.
