Bidar is a backward District in State of Karnataka with a high rate of school dropouts and child labors. ORBIT has taken up the rehabilitation of the child labors of Humnabad Taluk in collaboration with the Bidar District Child Labor Rehabilitation Society (BDCLRS). It aims at eradication of child labor and bonded labor in line with the Government policy.

ORBIT has established a bridge centre in Jalasangi. This child care home caters to the needs of 40 children. They receive regular meals, clothing and most importantly free education coupled with values of life. Their stay in the bridge centers forms and prepares them for regular schooling.

There is a noticeable improvement in the learning of the children. The majority of the children have learned the basic alphabets in Kannada and English, simple mathematics and action songs etc. The program also has helped in unearthing hidden talents among the children by the competitions conducted in various levels. As a result of this program school drop out rate of the children has decreased and bonded labour has been checked by the regular home visits by the field staff.
