Success Story of Basappa

Basappa 46 years, hailing from a poor background in Kollur, Aurad Taluk, faced immense struggles in his journey towards mental well-being. He is with wife and two Children, striving to make the family happy. However, after some years the doubts brewed within his mind. He was suspicions of his wife's fidelity; He thought his wife is having affair with other man. It disturbed him a lot, leading to daily conflicts and emotional distress among them.

Tragically, his wife died due to ill health. Her untimely demise worsened his anguish. Threatened by the relatives of his late wife, Basappa spiralled into a deep depression, marked by intense anger, self-doubt, and neglect of personal hygiene. His once vibrant spirit now clouded by suicidal thoughts and erratic behaviour, he found himself lost in despair.

Intervention of ORBIT
The first attempt of treatment was from Eragadda hospital in Hyderabad, it continued for some month. But due to financial constraints they couldn’t continue the same.
However, a ray of hope emerged through the intervention of ORBIT staff through Live, Love, Laugh Foundation. (LLLF). Through diligent efforts and intervention of ASHA workers, the staff identified Basappa's case and initiated crucial support. Their first visit to his humble abode on August 26, 2023, marked the beginning of his journey towards recovery. They assessed the case and suggested the caretaker of Basappa to bring him to DMHP camp. The compassionate guidance of ORBIT's staff provided reassurance and encouragement.

With the guidance of ORBIT staff Basappa and his caretaker visited the DMHP camp for the first time on 5.9.2023.Subsequent participation in DMHP camps from 5.9.2023 laid the groundwork for Basappa's healing.

With unwavering dedication, Basappa underwent a transformative six-month follow-up, gradually witnessing improvements in his mental and emotional well-being. The once turbulent waters of his mind began to calm, as anger dwindled, behavioural patterns shifted positively, and suicidal tendencies waned.

Today, amidst the gentle breeze of progress, Basappa stands as a beacon of hope. Engaging in cooly work four days a week, he not only sustains his livelihood but also nurtures his habits of cleanliness and self-care.

In the face of adversity, Basappa's journey exemplifies the triumph of the human spirit. Through collaborative efforts and unwavering support, he emerged from the shadows of despair, reclaiming his life with newfound vigour and purpose.
