Background of the Person: Mrs. Sunita has been married for 24 years. She has five children four daughters and one son. Managing the household without wage work was very difficult. Both husband and wife worked as daily wage laborers to run their family and provide education for their children. However, sometimes they would get work only two days a week instead of four, making it hard to manage household expenses.
Problem and Solution: During these difficult times, when the ORBIT Women’s Self-Help Group (SHG) started, she became a member of the Parimala SHG. Through the group, she gained awareness, spent time with other members, and utilized internal SHG loans to support her family and children. She credits the SHG for helping her live a happier life and for solving her problems.
Support from ORBIT: Through monthly trainings, awareness programs, and skill development sessions provided by ORBIT, she gained significant knowledge. This helped her run her household peacefully and grow in every aspect. By being an active SHG member, she learned to manage responsibilities, even reaching the position of president. She also learned to identify community problems and bring them to the attention of officials to find solutions.
Outcome / Experience: Being a member and president of the SHG, she learned many skills and is now managing her life well. When she felt she could not sustain her household, ORBIT guided her like a beacon of light. She participated in small enterprise training under ORBIT’s guidance and took loans ₹10,000 from the SHG and ₹25,000 from the Samruddhi scheme totaling ₹35,000 to start a grocery shop at her home in the village. This business generates daily income of ₹500–₹600, helping support her family. She has married off one daughter, and the remaining four children are continuing their education. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to ORBIT and the Samruddhi scheme for guiding and supporting her
