ORBIT [Organization of Bidar Integral Transformation] as a NGO was established in the year 1993 and registered as non profit organization in the year 1998, in response to the social needs and problems of the marginalized and economically backward people of Bidar District. ORBIT operates across 600 villages of 07 taluqs, promoting integrated social development through rights based approach. Over the years ORBIT has implemented numerous social development projects that have positively impacted the lives of thousands of people ORBIT has a rich history of launching innovative programs and projects addressing the pressing social issues to promote sustainable development. Through our past initiatives, we have empowered communities to take charge of their own development and improve their socio-economic well-being.
KEY MILESTONES OF ORBIT:
1982:
● Initial socialdevelopmental activities began in Bidar District with the support from Diocese of Mangalore.
1993:
● ORBIT organization was initiated for social development activities for Bidar district at Bhalki focusing the social development activities like women empowerment through the formation of Self Help Groups (SHG)
1997:
● ORBIT began to initiate social development programs such as Women empowerment program and Vidya Vikas programs through the help of CODP of Mangalore Diocese
● Initiated the Child sponsorship programme in Bidar District
1998:
● ORBIT was registered as NGO under theTrust Act with 12A and 80G certifications.
1999:
● The women empowerment program was extended to the Taluks of Bidar, Aurad and Humnabad along with Bhalki taluk.
● Initiated Model village programme in two villages of Bidar District
2000:
● Watershed program was initiated in Aurad Taluka
● Ashadeepa De addiction center was established at Bhalki Taluka for the District of Bidar.
2002:
● FCRA registration certificate was received
● Women empowerment program was extended in the taluk of Basavakalyan and Community Based Rehabilitation program was initiated in the taluks of Bhalki and Humnabad
● Initiated legal awareness programs in Humnabad Prison and Gulbarga Central Prison
● Implemented Bala Jyothi programme in Bhalki, Bidar, Basavakalyan and Humnabad Taluka
● Implemented Community Based Rehabilitation programme(CBR) for the persons with Disabilities in Bidar District
2003:
● On 17th Aug 2003 the New Administrative Office and the Human Resource Development Training Centre was inaugurated at Humnabad by Most Rev. Aloysius Paul D Souza, Bishop of Mangalore
● Decennial Celebrationof ORBIT was held.
● Various projects based and program based training programmes were initiated in the training center
2004:
● Safe Drinking Water project was initiated in 5 villages and communities of Bidar District
● Implemented Aids and appliances project to the persons with disabilities from Anga Karunya Bangalore
● Implemented Rural Knowledge network programme in Bidar District
2005:
● Initiated a new project Vidya Vikas Programme for children in 40 Government schools and villages.
● Program for women on Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) was initiated in all the Taluks through women SHGs
● Implemented Distribution of Assistive Device programme to the persons with disabilities through Anga Karunya programme
2006:
● ImplementedSNEHA Programme for the people living with HIV/AIDS was started in Basavakalyan Taluka in 50 villages of 5 Panchayats
● Implemented Panchayath Raj – Local self-Governance programme for the rural women of Bidar District
● Implemented Adult literacy programme in Bidar District
● Implemented Flood relief work in Bidar, Gulbarga and Bijapur Districts
2007:
● Initiated Waste Management Programme in Bidar City.
● Initiated Child Labour Bridge schools projects in Jalasangi Center and in Shanthi Kiran Skill training center, Humnabad Taluk.
● Implemented Solid Waste Management programme in Bidar city
2008:
● Initiated CCC (Community Care Center) - ASHADEEPAfor PLHIVs (People Living with HIV/AIDS)
● Inaugurated Sevasangama administrative office at Gulbarga.
● Implemented Integrated Development through Empowerment Action (IDEA) programme at Gulbarga District
2009:
● Initiated NAIP (National Agriculture Innovation Programme) for Farmers to promote organic farming in the Taluks of Aurad, Bhalki and in Basavakalyan
2010:
● Started CHILDLINE 1098 Programme in Humnabad and Basavakalyan Taluks.
● Launched Blood Donation camps once in a year
2012:
● Opened SPARSHA CARE HOME for CLHIV (Children living with HIV)
● Celebrated two decades of Commitment and growth of ORBIT
● Started Women in Micro Enterprises (SAMRUDI) in Bidar District
● Construction of 20 houses for the poor people project was implemented
● Annual Blood Donation camp was initiated
2014:
● Initiated Promotion of Solar Energy and Asthra Ole (People Friendly Ovens)
2015:
● Started National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP)
2016:
● Started Taluk-Level Federation in Bidar, Basavakalyan, Bhalki and Aurad
● Cancer Screening programme was initiated
2017:
● Started District Level Women Federation at Bidar.
2018:
● Participated in NIRANTHARA Programme for capacity building by DHWANI Foundation. DHWANI Foundation rated ORBIT as “Well Developed” in the overall assessment on 7th February 2020
● NAVAJEEVANA-Reintegration of persons with mental illness supported by APF (Azim Premji Foundation)
2019:
● Started Navajeevana programme for Community Based Reintegration of PWMIs
● Launched income Generation training and skill Development for women and youth
● SABALA supported by CARITAS India Project. Supplied solar powered machines to 13 Beneficiaries.
● SAVE A FAMILY: Implemented for the economic empowerment of rural women in Kosam and Haliparga villages in Halbarga, Bhalki Taluka
● ORBIT voluntarily joined the flood relief efforts of Gulbarga Diocese in various parts of Kerala in collaboration with Sahrudaya welfare service, Ernakulum in sep 2018
● Walkathon against HIV/AIDs Rally against Leprosy, Drives against Child Labour & Child Marriages were conducted.
2020:
● Started the Early intervention and Early Education programme for children with Developmental Delays under the age of 6 years.
● Started Cancer Campaign Program
● Started Skill Development and Income Generation Program (SDIGP)
● Started Navajeevana-Mental Health Program Supported by SCN Sisters, Germany
● Started Jan Jagruthi Manch Programme
● Relief work during Covid-19 supported by Azim Premji Foundation
● Covid Vaccination work supported by Azim Premji Foundation
2021:

● NAVAJEEVANA-Reintegration of Persons with Mental Illness supported by Live, Love Laugh Foundation (LLLF)
