Disability Details: The child had speech impairment and was unable to sit or walk. She had difficulties in daily personal activities.

Type of Disability: Global Developmental Delay

Family Background: The father works as a daily wage labourer, and the mother is a homemaker. She has two elder sisters. The family is extremely poor.

Birth History: The child did not cry at birth and remained in the hospital for one month.

Before Intervention: She was unable to sit or stand independently, could not speak, and could not perform simple daily activities on her own.

How the Child Was Identified: She was identified through the Anganwadi worker.

Assessment Findings: Based on assessment, the child had difficulties in the following areas: • Unable to sit or walk • No fine motor control in fingers • Did not respond visually properly • No word pronunciation • Difficulty in eating • Did not mingle with other children

Recommendations: The child was identified and assessed. An MRI scan was advised.

Intervention Provided:
Weekly home visits were conducted, and activities were also carried out at the sub-center. Activities included:
• Corner sitting exercises
• Supported walking
• Ball-catching activities
• Two-word pronunciation practice
• Oro-motor activities
• Social mingling with other children

Outcome:
After all interventions, significant positive changes were observed:
• Improved walking
• Speaking simple words
• Mixing with other children
• Eating independently
• Holding objects using finger coordination
• Identifying all family members
• Clear pronunciation of simple words

The child was provided nutritional supplements and a UDID card.
