Background of the Person: Reshma is a resident of Ghataborala village. She has three children, including one son. Her husband works as a borewell mechanic. Although Reshma has an education, she was not allowed to go outside and had to follow whatever her husband said. She lived confined within four walls and could not express herself freely.

Problem and Solution: She became a member of the Jeevanjyothi Women’s Self-Help Group. Being confined among four walls, it was difficult for her to socialize, understand problems, and develop communication skills. The group helped her gain confidence, face challenges, and stand up to difficulties.

Support from ORBIT: Under the guidance of ORBIT, the Jeevanjyothi SHG provided trainings in group meetings on topics such as SHG concepts, leadership, women’s empowerment, gender equality, and awareness programs. This guidance had a significant impact on her mindset, helping her overcome the feeling that she could not grow. She became confident and even took on the role of president of the group.

Opinion / Experience: Reshma expressed that being confined within four walls made her feel limited and restricted, despite her education. Her husband did not allow her to go anywhere or speak with anyone. Through ORBIT’s support and guidance, she became a member of the SHG, received valuable information and training, and learned to speak confidently and participate in group activities.
