Ranjana – A Woman Who Increased Her Family Income

Background of the Person: Renuka is a resident of Udabala village and has two children. She has studied up to primary level. She does not own any property or land. Despite these limitations, her confidence increased after participating in the SHG’s educational and training activities. She used to remain indoors most of the time but has now gained confidence through various trainings. Her husband works as a daily wage laborer.

Problem and Solution: Due to lack of money, she had no access to basic facilities and was financially disadvantaged. After joining the SHG, she obtained loans from the group/ DCC Bank, which helped improve her financial situation. Through multiple trainings provided by ORBIT, she became aware of various government schemes in the Gram Panchayat, including the Sanjeevini project. When a position became vacant in this project, she appeared for the exam, gained confidence, and secured the job.

After receiving support, guidance, and training from ORBIT, she has actively participated in work that empowers women. She has contributed in multiple ways: 1) addressing community problems, and 2) ensuring that funds and subsidies for people with disabilities reach them properly. She has grown as a leader and is now helping others.

Support / Opinion Regarding ORBIT: She expressed that when she did not know anything, ORBIT provided guidance, advice, and learning opportunities. She credited ORBIT for instilling leadership qualities in her and expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of herself and her family.
