Background: Mrs. Haseena Bee is a resident of Ashraya Colony in Basavakalyan taluk and comes from a poor family. She is a member of the Jaibhavani Mahila Self-Help Group under ORBIT. She holds a BPL card. She used to work as a daily wage laborer to support her family.

She has six children four daughters and two sons. They have their own house. All four daughters are married, and the two sons are married and working as daily wage laborers. Her husband also works as a daily wage laborer.

Problem and Solution: The income from their work was insufficient to run the household, and managing the family with children was very difficult. Haseena often felt frustrated staying at home without independent work. She participated in the training programs organized by ORBIT and, through the Samruddhi scheme, took a loan of ₹15,000. She constructed a small room with tin sheets in her house and started a small grocery shop. Initially, they sold snacks for children.

As more customers came, she took another loan of ₹10,000 from the group to expand the shop and stock more items. Later, she took a second Samruddhi loan of ₹25,000 to further enlarge the shop and add a wider variety of grocery items.

Now, she has good customers and earns a daily profit of around ₹1,000. She expressed her happiness about the improvement in her family life.

Support from ORBIT: ORBIT staff guided her to join the group, get trained, and start her own business. Participation in the trainings helped her gain skills to run her enterprise successfully.

Impact: The support has helped her manage family life better, expand her social connections, gain confidence, improve communication skills, and learn to respond to people’s problems. She expresses heartfelt gratitude to ORBIT for their assistance.
