Background of the Person:
Mr. Gopal is a resident of Mustapur village. He has two sons. His wife passed away during childbirth, and since then, there has been no one in the family who earns an income. Because of this, Gopal faces severe financial difficulties and struggles to meet the needs of his household.
Cause of Illness:
Gopal developed a mental health condition after his wife died during delivery. The emotional shock and stress of losing her deeply affected him, leading to the onset of his mental illness.

When Mrs. Mahadevi, a field animator under ORBIT’s During a village survey under ORBIT’s Navajeevana Programme, field workers learned about Gopal’s condition. He had been suffering from this illness for the past nine years.
Initially, he was taken to a private hospital in Ballari for treatment, where he was examined by doctors. However, due to the family’s severe financial problems, they could not continue buying the prescribed medicines.
The ORBIT team informed him about the free services available at the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) camp at the government hospital. He was brought to the DMHP camp, where he received a free medical check-up and free medication.
Present Condition:
Gopal’s condition has improved.
• He is now able to do small household tasks.
• Doctors have gradually reduced his medication due to improvement.
• His aggressive behavior shouting, quarrelling, hitting, and throwing things has reduced significantly.
• He is now able to go out and work occasionally, earning around ₹60 per day.
Gopal and his family have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the ORBIT organization for helping him access free medication and supporting his recovery.
