Family Background:
Ganapati belongs to a very poor family. He lives with his father, two mothers, one brother, one sister, and later his wife — a total of six members. His father, a daily wage labourer, is the only earning member.

Cause of Illness:
During his marriage, his friends made fun of him saying his wife was not suitable for him, which emotionally affected him and led to mental illness.

Type of Illness:
Severe mental illness (Schizophrenia).

Symptoms:
Frequent quarrelling with his wife, irritability, lack of conjugal bonding, hearing voices, seeing unreal things, excessive drinking, extreme anger, fear, poor hygiene, suspicion, and superstitious beliefs.

ORBIT’s Help:
Initially, he visited sorcerers/magic healers, but nothing changed. Later he went to Yaragadda Hospital in Hyderabad, but still saw no improvement.

ORBIT’s Support:
He was identified under the Navajeevana program survey in 2022–23. ORBIT explained about free government medicines and convinced him to attend the DMHP camp. With regular medication, his symptoms reduced. He is now working as a painter. The beneficiary and his family expressed gratitude to ORBIT.
