Objectives:

• To improve the socio-economic status of women by forming SHGs, promoting leadership, and linking women to credit and welfare schemes.
• To make the women aware of their rights and enable them to gain leadership qualities to make decisions for themselves by creating awareness regarding the right based approach
• To empower the socio-economic status of women
• To develop the poor, marginalized and disadvantaged people integrally
• To create awareness regarding the importance of education
• To give importance to health, educational status for women and children.

Outcomes:

Over 1,450 SHGs were formed, women took part in governance, accessed entitlements, and many launched micro-enterprises.

Narrative:

Women were organized into strong SHGs and received training in tailoring, dairy, and entrepreneurship. These groups became platforms for collective action and advocacy for women’s rights.

b) ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (EDP)- 2005 to 2008

Objective:

To build entrepreneurship and vocational skills among rural women.

Outcomes:

184 women trained; 80% initiated income-generating activities; leadership among women enhanced.

Narrative:

Training was given in trades like tailoring, vermin composting, and candle making. The initiative nurtured women as community leaders and trainers.

c) WOMEN IN MICROFINANCE PROGRAM (SAMRUDI) - 2012

Objectives:

• Every year 2000 women belonging to 800 SHGs in Karnataka will gain capacity and receive business counseling
• Every year 2000 women entrepreneurs will be technically and financially supported so that they can raise individual income by Rs.1500/- per month
• To promote 2000 entrepreneurs every year
• To alleviate poverty through SHG-based savings and credit access.

Outcomes:

SHGs formed and upgraded; members accessed loans and launched micro-enterprises.

Narrative:

The program improved financial literacy and built strong economic platforms for poor rural families.
